Onchan never divided before

A local historian in Onchan says splitting the village for electoral purposes would be the first time such a thing has happened there.

Peter Kelly says the area’s had a colourful history when it comes to election boundaries in the House of Keys, but the village has never been divided.

Later this month, Tynwald will consider a report which recommends Howstrake be given to another constituency to leave an area with two MHKs and 7,000 people.

Mr Kelly says that would be a unique situation for Onchan residents:
