Rotary appeals for Haiti relief funds

Hurricane Matthew approaching Haiti on 3 October

Cholera fears in wake of Hurricane Matthew

The Rotary Club of Onchan is appealing for help to provide shelter and clean water for the people of Haiti following the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew.

Over a thousand people are known to have died, and countless others lost their homes in one of the worst hurricanes to hit the Island in recent years.

Haiti was just beginning to recover from the 2010 earthquake.

The club is raising money for Shelter Boxes, which include a heavy duty tent and water filtration equipment to try and prevent the further spread of cholera.

They also contains essentials such as tin openers, saucepans and candles - the club has already bought two at a cost of £500 each.

Anyone looking to donate can contact Club President Nigel Dobson on 215515.
