One stop shop for property listings launched for IoM

A free, Manx-built, website which gathers property listings from across the Island's estate agents has attracted around 400 visitors in its first week of proper operation.

'MyMove' was created by software engineer Dale Taylor who moved to the Island two years ago and who grew frustrated trying to buy or rent a home.

He built a system to monitor agents' websites for new stock and alert him instantly.

It worked - he was first to call, first to view and first to offer on the house he bought.

More than 400 people have now registered for search alerts.

Mr Taylor insists the platform takes nothing from agents and makes no money.

"We don't want anybody coming to contact us. We're not interested in that. The whole system is built not for profit," he said adding that users supply only an email address and their property interests.

Those interested don't even have to do that, they can just search on the site.  

Mr Taylor told Manx Radio that several of the Island's estate agents have been receptive of the site which directs interested people straight to their websites:

Away from its primary use Chief Executive Jessica Murray says anonymised demand data could help government housing strategy.

She explained: “That kind of data can really make a difference in how the government strategizes its plans for the next three, five, 10 years around housing market.”
