Need for 'home grown' social workers, says children's champion
An MLC says there have been ongoing problems recruiting social workers into youth services on the Isle of Man.
Kerry Sharpe, who's also the Island's Children's Champion, spoke on the Mannin Line this lunchtime about the issues facing the young care sector.
There are 79 'looked after' children on the Island.
Mrs Sharpe told Manx Radio, for added stability, there needs to be more 'home grown' social workers:
Candidates could need to declare interests to stand in 2026 General Election
Customs and Excise office to relocate
Douglas man convicted in Island's 'most complex child abuse image investigation'
Temporary lights installed on Douglas promenade
