
A charity operation that aims to put a smile on the faces of children in war-torn and poverty-stricken countries at Christmas is stepping up a gear.
Operation Christmas Child delivers shoeboxes of gifts donated by the public to youngsters who wouldn’t normally receive presents.
Area coordinator Marlene Akitt says there are some things people can’t put in the boxes – medicines, chocolate and war toys.
But she says people can pick up leaflets from the same place they can leave their boxes:
