68% of higher ranking positions at Standard Bank held by men
An ambassador for a United Nations initiative aimed at achieving gender equality in the workplace, says the corporate world 'doesn't appreciate' the leadership qualities of women.
Wendy Orr who is Head of Inclusion and Diversity at Standard Bank, is a supporter of the UN-led HeForShe movement.
She visited the Isle of Man branch yesterday, as it looks to encourage men to into the conversation of equality issues.
The bank is aiming to have more females in higher ranking positions by 2021.
Currently that number is at 32%, with the hope it will rise to 40% in the next two years.
Ms Orr told Manx Radio explained what is needed for change:
