Cannan says minister's comments are a smokescreen
The chairman of Tynwald’s Public Accounts Committee says he’s worried government isn’t taking its responsibilities seriously when it comes to following financial rules.
This week, Alf Cannan MHK laid the committee’s report on silt dredging in Peel harbour before the court – saying there had been clear breaches of financial regulations.
But Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne said the report was politically motivated and hadn’t given his department a fair chance to defend itself.
