Passenger plane stuck in the mud!

Twenty passengers escaped injury when the front wheel of their VLM flight from London City slid off the runway, as the aircraft landed at Ronaldsway this morning.

The wheel became stuck in the soft earth alongside a runway light, and an operation was underway to get the plane onto the tarmac and away from the main landing area.

Strong winds and heavy rain may have been a contributory factor in causing the accident, which was being dealt with by the airport's own emergency crews.

Howard Caine gave this live report on Manx Radio News (play atttached audio file):

There were some short delays as a result of the incident, but everything was back to normal after a short time, with another runway being used.
