Passengers made to disembark EasyJet flight

Ronaldsway Airport 'would not stay open' for delayed Gatwick flight

Passengers on board an EasyJet flight were made to disembark, last night.

This message has been sent into Manx Radio by an anonymous traveller:

"Due to further disruption caused by suspected drone activity at Gatwick, the EasyJet flight to the Isle of Man, scheduled to leave at 6:10pm, only started to board at 10:45pm with an ETA at Ronaldsway of 10:15pm.

With many passengers already on the plane, an announcement was made that the flight was cancelled 'as the IOM Airport would not stay open for the flight.'

Passengers were then forced to disembark the aircraft and wait to retrieve their luggage. Due to the busy period, the next availability to the IOM is Monday (24) with no guarantee that all passengers could be rebooked.

In addition, passengers were advised that no compensation was due as the decision to cancel the flight was beyond EasyJet's control."

A representative of Ronaldsway has been contacted, however says details on the incident will not be released until Monday.
