Peel man caught with indecent images of children

Joshua Tweedy to be sentenced at Court of General Gaol Delivery

A court's heard a man was caught by UK police downloading indecent photos and movies of children using a chat app.

Twenty-four-year-old Joshua James Tweedy of Market Street in Peel appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas Courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to seven charges of having indecent images of children on 24 April, as well as provoking behaviour and possessing a bladed article on 7 July.

Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon said UK officers got in touch with their Manx counterparts after Tweedy used Discord to download the images.

Tweedy's home was raided by police on 24 April.

Inside, they seized a laptop, a mobile phone and two games consoles.

A search of the devices uncovered three still images and four movies, and Tweedy was arrested.

Mr Arrowsmith said the case was so serious, Tweedy would have to be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Tweedy was remanded in custody and will appear at the higher court on 18 September.
