
Peel's carnival gets underway for the 59th time today (Sunday).
It'll feature sandcastle competitions, live music, street entertainment and a grand parade of floats will make its way along the promenade from 2pm.
The celebrations will be topped off with a fireworks display at 10pm.
A community art project has also been part of the event in recent years, with creations including a willow giant elk and a huge mechanical spider.
This year, local tree surgeon Nick Barlow will carve a nine-foot sculpture of the mythical Lady Fenella out of a tree trunk, as the event's chairman Ian Baker explains:
