Whiff of unease over Peel homes plan

Locals fear sewerage system won't cope

Residents on a Peel housing development are raising concerns over the developer's latest proposals.

Dandara Homes has won planning permission for 24 properties off Poortown Road - but has revised its proposals and now wants to build 49 smaller units.

Jonathon Barney lives on Slieau Whallian View next to the sewerage works, on a previous phase of the same estate.

He says local infrastructure may not be able to cope with so many new homes - and is encouraging neighbours to attend a public meeting called by Peel Commissioners tonight to discuss the issue.

Mr Berney says sewage smells are heartbreaking and embarrassing.

The meeting will be held at Corrin Hall in Peel from 7:30pm.
