Police aiming to clean up streets
People who surrender firearms, ammunition and weapons on the Isle of Man will not face prosecution for illegal possession of the items.
That’s the pledge from police as the ‘Firearms and Weapons Surrender Program’ comes into force today (Monday, 16 January).
Items - including illegally held guns, imitation firearms, air guns, crossbows, knuckle dusters, stun devices, knives, swords and noxious gas and sprays - can be handed in to any police station.
People dropping firearms off are being urged to ensure they are secured, and made safe, and that any ammunition has been removed.
Explosive devices, like grenades, should not be brought to police stations – instead you should call Police Headquarters on 631212.
The amnesty will run until 1 February.
