Clear view of comets in Manx skies
This year's Perseid meteor shower has made a good showing in Manx skies.
Island residents who watched overnight were rewarded with an impressive display of shooting stars, as the shower reached its peak.
A meteor shower occurs when Earth passes through a comet's debris stream - this year, the comet Swift-Tuttle.
The best time to spot a Perseid between is from 1am until the onset of dawn twilight, with the comet season continuing until 15 August.
Some experts say the rate year could top 150 per hour in the best weather conditions.
