Person rescued after kitchen fire in Willaston

Fire crews found casualty in smoke logged building

A person had to be rescued from a house fire in Willaston last night.

Fire crews from Douglas were sent to the scene after the property's fire alarm went off.

They found the building filled with smoke and the casualty on the ground floor.

The fire had started in the kitchen, and had gone out by the time the rescue team arrived.

After being treated on-scene the person was sent to hospital due to smoke inhalation, but is said not to be in a serious condition.

The fire and rescue service say it's a reminder of the life-saving importance of having functional fire alarms inside your home.
