'Personal and financial' reasons behind Erin News owners departure

No date set for current owners to step away though

Personal and financial pressures have led a Port Erin-based newsagents to call it a day, with the current owners looking to hand the reigns over to new ownership.

Erin News says it's becoming increasingly difficult to operate as some of its stock would never arrive due to Steam Packet disruption and cancellations.

Paired with Tesco due to move in to the town, the organisation says it's unable to compete.

Owner and Director Vickie Edwin-Reed says the papers were their 'bread and butter':

In response, a spokesman for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said: "Manxman is proving to be an excellent sea boat and is set to provide many years of reliable service for freight and passengers to the Isle of Man.

"In conjunction with port authorities, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is working to ensure resilient and reliable lifeline services in compliance with its obligations under the Sea Services Agreement."
