Phantom unmasked

The Isle of Man’s own David Artus will play the iconic role of the Phantom in Taylorian Productions’ 2015 summer show of The Phantom of the Opera.

It’s been confirmed David, who lives in Kirk Michael with his wife Victoria and young family, will be the man behind the mask when the musical comes to the Gaiety Theatre in August.

The show runs from August 10-22, in association with Manx Radio, and with high demand for tickets expected, the box office will open at 10am on Monday (Feb 2).

Taylorian producer Matt James said: ‘We are so delighted that David has accepted our invitation to play the role.

‘We feel he is a gifted and talented performer and has all the credentials to play this unique part.

‘Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera is a monumental challenge for Taylorian Productions in every way and to have David leading a company of what will need to be exceptional performers is a wonderful bonus.

‘It is such an accolade for the Island and Taylorian to be given permission to present this extraordinarily romantic and spectacular musical - one that has become such a global phenomenon. There will be a full interview with Matt on Sunday Extra on Manx Radio from 2pm. ’
