Plans for CRHS sports facilities to go on display

Four football picthes and cricket nets part of the proposals

Proposals for four football pitches and brand new cricket facilities will be unveiled at Castle Rushen High School later this week.

It's part of the government plans to redevelop the site.

Members of the public are invited to go to the school's library between 3.30pm and 7pm on Thursday to view the designs.

Representatives from the Department of Education, Sport and Culture will be on hand to answer any questions.

The planned development uses a field located directly adjacent to the northwest boundary where the existing playing fields are situated.

Full land drainage is also included in the scheme, as is pipework which will be installed under the pitches to link to a ground source and heat pump as part of the heating system for the new school.

Temporary access from Arbory Road to the construction site will be created through a field while the work is ongoing.

Work will begin on the site in March next year, subject to planning approval, with the aim of completion by October that year.

The pitches will be established for use from September 2021 if the proposals get the green light and the building work runs to schedule.
