Proposed submission to be made by the end of the month

A detailed planning application for a project to end the discharge of raw sewage into Laxey Bay is expected to be submitted in the next few days.

The documentation has been prepared by Manx Utilities, which says all landowners directly impacted by the pipeline routes have been contacted to ensure they are fully aware of the plans ahead of the submission.

What was described as a proactive meeting with Garff Commissioners was held earlier this month, at which the plans were presented.

Once the application has been submitted and processed by the planning team at DEFA it's expected that Manx Utilities will provide a link to the submission on the planning portal.

It is also planned for the latest photomontages of the various sites to be uploaded so that the community can easily access them.

It's understood the preferred option would involve pumping effluent to a treatment plant site at the Axnfell plantation above Laxey village.
