Pledge to help tackle economic downturn

The Isle of Man Trades Council is promising to play a full part in helping the Island's workforce weather the current economic downturn.

The cross-union body has just elected Angela Moffatt its new president and the Island's other full-time union official, Mick Hewer of Unite, her deputy.

Ms Moffatt steps into the shoes of her father Bernard, who has stepped down.

Angela Moffatt says there are some very weighty issues for the Trades Council to consider.

And she predicts a busier time on the industrial relations front in future.
