Police appeal after incident

Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident on Douglas Promenade yesterday morning (Saturday).

It happened around 11.10am on Loch Promenade when a black Audi Coupé car, driven by a man, reversed onto the crossing on Loch Promenade and into Howard Street, Douglas.

Whilst making the manoeuvre, he collided with a blue vehicle which was being driven by a woman and narrowly missed people on the crossing.

The driver of the Audi was later traced to fields below the Carnane transmitter and he was arrested for a number of alleged offences. He's currently helping police with their inquiries.

Officers say they're very keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the driver of the Audi collide with the blue vehicle and would particularly like to hear from the woman driver of the blue car.

They would also like to hear from anyone who saw the Audi driver travelling in the Douglas area and out onto The Old Castletown Road.

If you can help the number to ring is 631423 or 631212 and ask for Police Sergeant Gary Heaton of the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team.
