It happened at around 9.20pm, when officers detained several people from a blue Nissan Micra.
Whilst this was happening, several officers ended up in the middle of the road and a number of motorists stopped to help.
Police say they would now like to speak to any witnesses who passed the officers during the incident and would also like to thank members of the public who stopped to help.
