Police in Ramsey say it now seems likely that a swan found dead in Ramsey harbour had been there for some time, and may have died from natural causes.
The dead bird was reported to officers over the weekend by a member of the public, and there had been concerns it had been illegally killed.
A group of youths had also been reported as being in the area at the time.
However, as a result of enquiries and media reports on the incident, police say a reliable source has now been in touch to say the body of the swan had been there for some time, and before the youths were spotted.
Sergeant Dawn Lowe from Ramsey police says they would still like to speak to the youths if possible in order to complete enquiries: (play audio)
