Police have confirmed a 59-year-old man was attacked in Willaston in the early hours of Sunday morning, after they followed up comments posted on a Manx internet forum.
The post said an elderly man was assaulted near to the shops on Snaefell Road just after midnight.
Officers want to speak to a group of young men - aged late teens to early twenties - that are believed to have had an altercation with two older men near to the shops in Willaston around that time.
The police say the 59-year-old was injured in the incident, but at the moment say it's not clear how another man - a 75-year-old who's being treated in Noble's Hospital - sustained his injuries.
If you know anything about the incident call police headquarters on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
