Police have issued a statement after reports on social media that a female was 'grabbed by her arm' by the occupants of a vehicle which mounted the pavement next to her.

Officers have confirmed to Manx Radio that a report was received on 12 May; it's understood the incident occurred in Douglas.

A statement issued by police says: 'The Isle of Man Constabulary’s (IOMC) head of public protection, DCI Berry, is aware of a social media post currently in circulation and recognises that it may cause concern within the community. Whilst the IOMC do not usually comment on individual incidents, we are aware of the information being shared and wish to clarify the circumstances and prevent the spread of misinformation.

'We can confirm that a report was received on the 12 May 2026. The complainant reported that she had been approached by occupants of a vehicle that briefly mounted the pavement near her. The individuals spoke to her from within the vehicle, grabbing her arm. At no point did anyone exit the vehicle, and she was able to leave the area. She reported feeling uncomfortable with the interaction, the engagement was unwanted and caused her upset, and so the matter was reported to police.
