Officer Sophie Dvorakova appears at Douglas Courthouse
A police officer’s admitted driving without due care and attention before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
Serving officer Sophie Lillian Dvorakova of Governor’s Hill was driving her Nissan Qashqai on the Mountain Road on 22 February.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain said Miss Dvorakova crashed into a Rover driven by a man at 4:45pm near the Tholt Y Will Road.
The court heard the other motorist initially thought he’d suffered broken ribs, but had in fact sustained extensive bruising to his chest.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge through a coroner’s admission.
Mr Swain said some witnesses at the scene had claimed she’d also been using a mobile phone while driving, but she’d actually been using it hands-free over Bluetooth.
He added she picked up her phone after the incident to call police to the scene.
Dvorakova was fined £500 with £50 prosecution costs and magistrates also imposed six penalty points on her driving licence.
