Police pleased with improved crime figures

Police say they are pleased with a two per cent reduction in recorded crime on the Isle of Man since April, but see it as proof their tactics are continuing to work, rather than evidence of a dramatic fall in criminal activity.

Chief Inspector Simon Lowe says they are still focusing on local solutions for local people, through neighbourhood policing, and are carrying out more analysis of offences.

They are also concentrating on prevention and early intervention as ways of keeping the figures down.

The overall crime figure has fallen ten per cent over the past three years, and CI Lowe says the approach to gathering statistics is now well established:
