A change of tactics by police struggling to contain the spate of burglaries across the Island, has been ridiculed by nationalist organisation the Celtic League.
The group has branded the force's latest strategy - to limit information made public about where and when crimes have taken place - as 'ludicrous'.
This week the constabulary claimed social media comment surrounding police posts about the burglaries were hampering efforts to catch the criminals.
Senior officers argue online information about the 'pattern' of burglaries could assist would-be offenders.
Nearly 40 thefts from homes were reported after Christmas and in January, and there were six more last week - in those cases locations and timings were given.
But police refused to reveal details about several more burglaries last weekend - saying only they took place in Greater Douglas.
In a strongly worded attack on the leadership of the Manx force, Celtic League Director of Information Bernard Moffat described the new tactics as 'the logic of a lunatic asylum':
