PSM Commissioners commemorate 80th anniversary of Dunkirk

Steam Packet Company lost 3 vessels during Operation Dynamo

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the darkest day in Steam Packet Company history.

On 29 May 1940, three Manx vessels were sunk within 24 hours as they helped evacuate soldiers from Dunkirk during the Second World War.

Dr Michelle Haywood, Chair of Port St Mary Commissioners, told Rhian Evans more:

Also this morning, a member of Rushen Silver Band played the last post, to remember those who were lost in the evacuation of Dunkirk.
