Post Office staff vote for industrial action

Ninety-three per cent in favour

Isle of Man Post Office workers who are members of the Communication Workers' Union have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action

Ninety-three per cent of those balloted voted 'yes', with there being a ninety-one per cent turnout.

Those percentages translate to one hundred and ninety-two workers casting their vote, with 179 voting 'yes' and 13 'no'.

CWU Deputy General Secretary (Postal) Terry Pullinger says the result of the ballot is a massive vote of no confidence in the Isle of Man Post Office board.

Mr Pullinger is currently in a meeting with his National Executive Council to decide the extent of strikel action.

Manx Radio is also trying to get comment from the Chair of Isle of Man Post Office Julie Edge.
