34-year-old told officers he needed his 'gut bacteria' fixing
A Ramsey man who smashed the window of his local police station, so that he could be sent back to prison, has been ordered to work with the probation service for two years.
Shaun David Bignall, of Mooragh Promenade, threw a lump of concrete through the glass pane at 3.47am on 1 August.
When the 34-year-old was arrested he told officers he wanted to go back to the Isle of Man Prison to get his ‘gut bacteria fixed’ as doctors weren’t taking him seriously.
He later admitted to destroying property and breaching a Domestic Abuse Protection Order which he did whilst he was on remand by making telephone calls to the person the order was protecting.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse Bignall’s advocate said her client was in ‘desperate need’ of psychological therapies which would mean ‘the court would see an awful lot less’ of him.
“He’s been really let down by the fact there’s no one available, or no funds available, for DBT (dialectical behaviour therapy)," she added.
Ordering Bignall to pay £257 in compensation, and prosecution costs of £250, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told him the criminal damage was ‘completely deliberate’.
