Professor warns of Biosphere checks

Island's biosphere status subject to scrutiny

One of the key players, who helped the Manx achieve Biosphere Status, has warned of a committee "with the keen eye of ferrets", keeping an eye on how the island nurtures that status.

In 2016, the Manx were formally accepted into the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO. The initial period is for ten years.

It recognises the Island as a special place for people and nature, living side by side.
