Poor condition of road left DoI with no other option
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer insists resurfacing work along Douglas promenade will give badly needed respite to drivers.
A new surface, costing £40,000, has been laid already between Castlemona Avenue and the Palace Hotel, with the second phase continuing from the Palace to the bottom of Summer Hill.
He says although the work will only last roughly 2 years, the poor condition of the road left the department with no other option.
Principles for a larger re-development scheme will be put to Tynwald in December by the Minister, who says the resurfacing is very much a temporary solution:
