Promenade Medical Centre decision expected in February

Fears of closure after GP recruitment problems

Patients of the Promenade Medical Centre in Douglas will know about the future of the GP practice 'no later than the end of February'.

The partners have taken the decision to wind down the practice over the next five months.

A letter has been sent to all those signed up with the centre, informing them of the uncertainty about its future.

A long-term replacement doctor has been sought by the practice, it says, but "despite extensive efforts, this has not been possible."

It goes on to say the practice, and Department of Health and Social Care, are "working together to identify how best to ensure the continuity of GP services for patients," adding the centre "needs some time to consider all options."

Those with any concerns are encouraged to contact the Primary Care Team on 642604 or at fps@gov.im.

The health department has sought to reassure patients that they will be able to see a doctor during any transition period.
