Proposed new laws aim to reduce false alarms for fire service

Firefighters wrongly called out around 700 times each year

It's hoped proposed new laws will limit the amount of times fire officers are called out by mistake.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service receives around 700 calls per year to premises due to false alarms.

Treasury Minister Alex Allinson will ask the House of Keys to consider the second reading of the Treasury (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill at this week's sitting.

He says it will provide clearer statutory provision for the fire service to charge repeat offenders:
