Protect the NHS - former minister

Two motions tabled for Tynwald

A bid to formally protect the core principles of the National Health Service will be made by a former health minister next week.

Kate Beecroft, who was effectively sacked from the role in January, wants assurances the service will not be privatised for Islanders.

She also insists it must remain free at the point of delivery.

A fundamental review aimed at identifying different ways to deliver and pay for healthcare was launched in the new year - but that hasn’t stopped Mrs Beecroft tabling a Tynwald motion.
