Warm and dry weather posing risks
Members of the public are being urged to take 'great care' as wildfires remain a risk across many parts of the Island.
Along with the Department of Environment, the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is appealing to visitors to act responsibly as the warm weather continues to leave the countryside 'tinder dry'.
In the last week, the Fire Service has dealt with three 'out of control fires' which initially began as controlled burns, and with rain not forecast until Saturday, the authorities are asking people to comply with a number of measures to avoid other wildfire incidents.
It's suggested bonfires or camp fires should not be placed near combustible vegetation whilst the use of disposable barbeques should 'preferably' be avoided altogether.
Litter, especially glass bottles should be discarded of appropriately as they can ignite fires. Drivers are also reminded that cigarettes should not be disposed of out of car windows when driving through the uplands.
