Public urged to share views on plans for north and west

First drop-in session in Peel today

People are being urged to share their views on development plans for the west of the Island ahead of a public inquiry.

The Draft Area Plan for the North and West sets out proposals for housing, employment land, the environment and supporting infrastructure.

When approved the plan will set out ways of ‘managing and guiding development’ to satisfy social, economic and environmental needs for Ramsey, Peel, Michael, German, Patrick, Jurby, Andreas, Bride, Ballaugh, Lezayre and part of Garff.

The Cabinet Office has also launched an online consultation to run alongside the plan which it says is aimed at delivering ‘clear planning policies’.

“Community involvement is now being strongly encouraged once more to help resolve any outstanding or unforeseen issues, correct errors and refine proposals ahead of a forthcoming Public Inquiry – the next step in the process in accordance with Schedule 1 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1999.” – Isle of Man Government

Drop-in sessions, with planning officers, start at the House of Manannan in Peel today (13 July).

• Wednesday-Friday 13-15 July: 9.30am to 4.30pm

• Saturday 16 July: 9.30am to 2pm

You can find a copy of the plan HERE.

The consultation will run until 16 September.
