Pulrose apprentice fined for unprovoked attack

Man punched in the head outside fast food shop

An apprentice from Pulrose has been fined after launching an unprovoked attack outside a fast food shop in the capital.

Eighteen-year-old Dean Rae of Oak Avenue appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

At a previous hearing he’d admitted being drunk and disorderly, common assault and resisting police on 2 June.

The court heard police on patrol on Victoria Street in Douglas spotted Rae as he argued with another man outside a fried chicken outlet.

Officers intervened after Rae punched the man several times in the head in front of horrified TT visitors.

But Rae was so uncooperative and aggressive, officers had to subdue him using PAVA incapacitant spray.

He was ordered to do 120 hours of community service as well as pay £450 compensation and £125 costs.

He was also banned from buying alcohol or entering on-licenced premises for three months.
