Pulrose man hid cocaine in pool table pocket

Twenty-eight-year-old handed suspended sentence and fine

A court’s heard a Pulrose man was caught on camera as he offered cocaine to his friend before hiding it in a pool table pocket.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jason Cain of Alder Road appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to one count each of possessing cocaine and supplying the class A drug on 23 December last year.

Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court Cain had been in the Pinewood Social Club in Pulrose celebrating his birthday.

Staff watched on CCTV as Cain’s friend snorted the drug from his hand and Cain put something in the pool table.

They called police, and Cain was arrested – inside the pool table officers discovered 0.2 grammes of cocaine worth around £20.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode said Cain had made an extremely foolish decision, but added he hadn’t been supplying the drug to make money.

Cain was given a five-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He was also fined £500 and ordered to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
