Increased catch limit for 2024
Fresh Manx Queenies should be back in local shops this week following the start of the 2024 Queen Scallop season.
Boats taking part in the trawl fishery will benefit from an increased total catch limit of 726 tonnes, which reflects a 20% rise based on last year's figure of 605 tonnes.
Meanwhile the dredge fishery will remain closed for 2024 based on survey data from the Queen Scallop dredge zone.
The Island's Scallop fishery enjoyed a strong year in 2023 with good catches and an excellent quality product, reflecting the success of conservation measures over recent years.
