Event celebrates 100 years of RAF

A Royal Air Force pilot says inspiring the next generation is one of the most rewarding parts of his job.

Flight Lieutenant Dan Bass met Manx Air Cadets at Ronaldsway this morning (Tues 13) - he flew over from RAF Valley on Anglesey specially, with three colleagues in two of the RAF's iconic aircraft.

The 'meet and greet' event was organised by the Isle of Man Post Office, to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the RAF in 1918 - the Post Office also released commemorative stamps in January.

A big crowd of invited guests included representatives from the Manx RAF Association, Isle of Man Post Office, Manx Air Cadets, and His Excellency Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney.

Attendees were given the rare opportunity to chat to the pilots, and get up close and personal with the machinery.

Flight Lieutenant Bass was more than happy to show cadets his aircraft and answer questions:
