RCL reacts to collapse of PO deal

Ramsey Courthouse Ltd "saddened" it's not able to offer service

Ramsey Courthouse Limited says its "saddened" that it's not able to deliver the IOM Post Office's counter service in Ramsey.

A statement says that whilst extensive negotiations have been taking place for some time, it hasn't been possible to establish mutually acceptable terms of business.

RCL has thanked all of its supporters and particularly the Post Office employees who have been involved in the process, and those who have invested in the project.

Whilst saying it's "tremendously disappointed", RCL says it remains fully committed to working with Ramsey Town Commissioners to ensure the courthouse remains a resource for the people of the north of the Island and a hub for the local community.

Captain Nigel Malpass from RCL says he hopes to have "Friends of Ramsey Courthouse" up and running shortly.

He hopes this would allow for both government representation and private sector initiatives to work alongside each other allowing the Courthouse to remain the "heart" of Ramsey:
