Castletown resident delighted with runner-up spot
World Superbike Champion and Castletown resident Jonathan Rea says he was shocked and delighted to finish runner-up in the 2017 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
Rea, who's been world champion three years in a row, achieved the second highest number of votes, with 80,567, finishing 3000 votes behind the winner, athletics gold medalist Mo Farah.
The award's ceremony took place last night at the Liverpool Echo Arena.
Speaking afterwards Rea gave BBC Northern Ireland his reaction to the result:
