Redesign plans for Noble's Emergency Department

Follows nine ambulance 'black breaches' in June

Manx Care is looking into a redesign for it's Emergency Department.

It's after nine 'black breaches' were reported at Noble's Hospital during June.

This is when a handover from ambulance to the ED takes longer than 60 minutes.

The revelation came in Manx Care's Integrated Performance Report for June, which was discussed at its September board meeting.

The ambulance service dealt with an additional 167 calls above the monthly average across the month due to the TT.

The health service is hoping to create an ambulance handover bay, as is common elsewhere.

Rapid Assessment and Treatment Unit are used to triage patients as they arrive at UK hospitals, before being moved on.
