Relief for CRHS students after exam blunder

Botched paper will not count towards iGCSE

Students at Castle Rushen High School have been told their iGCSE English Literature exam, in which they were taught an out of date text, will play no part in their overall grade.

Instead, they will only be assessed on their coursework, and the Poetry and Prose component.

In an email to those affected, school Head Teacher Keith Winstanley said he is pleased to report "we have achieved a positive outcome for our students".

Exam board Cambridge International has confirmed the 25% Drama element will no longer contribute to the students' final mark.

Mr Winstanley said in what has been a very challenging and stressful period, "our students will not be disadvantaged by our fundamental mistake".

He went on to express gratitude to the exam board for acting in the students' best interests, and thanked parents for their patience during negotiations.
