Remand for man accused of committing multiple sexual offences

30-year-old accused of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault

A Douglas man has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison after being accused of carrying out multiple sexual offences.

Jon-Paul Fayle, of Princes Avenue, appeared at Douglas Courthouse today (7 December) via live video link.

The 30-year-old has been charged with the rape, and attempted rape, of a woman between 23 and 26 November.

Those offences can only be tried at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Three offences of indecently assaulting the same complainant, between the same dates, were denied as was a charge of displaying controlling or coercive behaviour between 6 and 29 November.

Mr Fayle will stand trial at the higher court

Committal proceedings – where the case is elevated to that court – will take place on 23 January.

There was no application for bail and he will be held in custody until his next court appearance on 4 January 2024.

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 23 January the court was told committal, to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, was delayed. Mr Fayle will next appear in court on 13 February.
