Remand for taxi driver accused of causing Douglas woman’s death

65-year-old appears at Douglas Courthouse

A 65-year-old taxi driver has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a Douglas woman.

David Evans, of Tynwald Street, made his first appearance before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse this morning.

He’s been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving on 20 March.

The body of 73-year-old Carolyn Buchan was found in the road on Marathon Avenue just after 7am on that date.

Mr Evans has also been charged with failing to stop at, or report, an accident.

Bail was refused and Mr Evans was remanded in custody, at the Isle of Man Prison, until his next court appearance on 7 April.
