Report recommends biomass solutions

The man behind a report on the future of green energy in the Isle of Man has outlined why wave and tidal power aren't the best options.

Mark Johnson was the project manager for a study carried out for the Manx government by leading United Kingdom sustainability consultancy firm AEA.

On Monday he will give a presentation about the report's findings, which will help guide future Tynwald decisions on renewable energy.

The study focusses on the possibilities of biomass technologies rather than using the resource all around the Island, namely water.

Mr Johnson says wave and tidal power aren't yet sophisticated or cost effective enough for our needs (play audio file):

The presentation on Monday is at the Manx Museum starting at 7pm and the full report is available online at gov.im/defa/enviro/energy
