Aim to prevent crime later in life
Police teams are implementing more early intervention work, in an effort to prevent more serious crime later in life.
The Island force's early action team has recently worked with children at Ashley Hill Primary School with a restorative justice session.
It was set up following minor criminal damage made by a group of young people.
As a result the offenders read a victim impact statement, offered apologies to teachers and did some work around the school grounds.
Officer Alison Thompson is part of the team.
